A fatal collision involving two aircraft at Scottsdale Airport, located east of Phoenix, Arizona, on Monday afternoon resulted in one death and three injuries, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred when a small business jet, owned by Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil, experienced a mechanical failure upon landing and struck a parked plane.
According to Scottsdale city spokesperson Kelli Kuester, the arriving jet’s left main landing gear collapsed during touchdown, leading to the crash. Initial reports indicated four injuries, but officials later revised the number to three, all of whom were hospitalized. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
Vince Neil’s representative, Warrick Robinson, clarified to CNN that the rock singer was not aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading an investigation into the cause of the crash, with officials on-site to assess the scene.
The accident adds to a recent string of aviation tragedies in the U.S., including a deadly midair collision over Washington, D.C., that killed 67 people and a Philadelphia medevac crash that claimed seven lives. In response to Monday’s crash, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) temporarily halted flights at Scottsdale Airport as safety protocols were reviewed.
